“It’s hard to single out any one piece here: the whole Zodiac Suite is important. We can of course praise the work of flutist Chloé Tallet on the pastoral “Sagittarius”, or the string ensemble on the dense “Leo”. But the Umlaut Chamber Orchestra’s tour de force is unique and collective. Listening to “Pisces”, which closes the album with a guest appearance by opera singer Agathe Peyrat, you also get the feeling that this music wouldn’t be this without Badaroux’s early work on Hollywood music with the late Umlywood.
